Living in a very modern world there is no denying that we get exposed to a lot of things, most of it pollutants. Pollutants can be in the form of gases or it can take a more solid shape like garbage; it can also be in liquid form like toxic chemicals. All these can be harmful to your skin. It's not only the pollutants that your skin has to deal with; it also has to deal with the harmful rays of the sun. Constant exposure to harmful factors can cause your skin to get dry and to crack. Dry skin is not a sight to behold and it is not a hopeless case too. In fact, here are some tips to keep your skin moisturized. 1. Hydrate yourself. Drink lots of water. During the day your body uses the stored water inside the cells. By not drinking, you will end up dehydrating the cells in your body including the skin cells. The cold and the heat take away the moisture in our body especially our skin. When the skin cells are dehydrated they tend to shrink and get all wrinkly resulting to a dry and wrinkled skin. Water is important because this will keep the cells hydrated as well as keep the skin moisturized. 2. Lukewarm. When you go take a bath do not bathe in a warm shower but instead go for the lukewarm water. The heat will cause moisture to evaporate leaving your skin dry. Lukewarm water will keep the balance. In cases when you are fond of warm showers and warm tubs it would be best to keep these sessions short. 3. Sleep. Take time to relax. Stress as well as staying up all night can have some damaging effects on your skin. The cells in your body need to regenerate. By sleeping and resting, you are helping your cells in this particular process. 4. Food. Be aware of the types of foods you are ingesting. Some foods and drinks can actually contribute to the drying of your skin by absorbing moisture. Caffeinated drinks speed up drying so if you are fond of drinking coffee and colas it would be best if you slow down on them. Salty foods like junk foods and the like also take away moisture. So before you pop open that bag of chips keep this saying in mind “wherever salt goes, water follows.” 5. Moisturizer. This is one body product everyone should have. Moisturizers contain ingredients that help keep the skin moist and supple. The best time to apply moisturizers is after a shower since during this time your pores are open and your skin will be able to absorb moisture compared to applying it later during the day. It would also be a great idea to keep a small bottle of moisturizer inside your bag so you can moisturize your hands during the day keeping it soft and hydrated. With healthy skin your will surely look good and turn a lot of heads. To keep the skin healthy, do not forget to moisturize every day. |
