Acne can be a problem and so can the scars that acne leaves behind. Just because you have acne does not necessarily mean that you have to bear the scars. In fact, there are some ways to prevent scarring. Here are some of them. 1. The very basic to scar prevention is keeping your face clean. Acne is usually the result of pores getting all clogged up. Clogged pores are caused by using heavy moisturizers or using too much make-up and failing to remove it at night. If you keep your face clean, you keep the pores open and acne won't take place. If you do not want to have acne scars, might as well do something to keep your face from having acne. Cleansing your face is not that hard to do because all you need is a good cleanser and water. Plus, it does not really take a long time to clean your face. Remember that part of the cleaning process is make-up removal. Remove your make up first then wash your face. 2. When you spot acne on your face, treat it immediately. Remember that acne can evolve into a severe form. Waiting for this to take place is really not a good idea. Treating it soon can prevent it from getting severe. This is also another way to prevent acne scars. If your acne is unresponsive to treatments, then have a talk with your dermatologist. When treating it, apply only a liberal amount. Putting too much acne cream can also clog pores which can worsen the situation. 3. As much as possible, avoid doing anything that can further irritate your acne like excessive scrubbing, using facial cleansers that contain harsh ingredients and most especially touching it. Remember that inflamed acne lesions have a high chance of creating scars rather than those that are not inflamed. If you do not want your face to look like the moon with craters, avoid irritating your acne lesions. Leave them be and don't keep on touching them. 4. As mentioned, it is best to let the acne medications to do their job. Do not pick, prick, pierce, pop or squeeze your acne lesions. These methods can do no good to your skin and instead can result to scarring. Acne scars can be hard to treat because it tends to be deep. In addition, these practices can also make you prone to infection along with the fact that tissue damage also takes place. When you do these, you are merely making matters worse and you are only extending the healing time rather than making it shorter. 5. If your acne seems to be getting worst and you notice larger than usual lesions, cysts or nodules then it is about time that you go see a doctor. Acne that has these characteristics usually leaves a very visible scar because these characteristics are a common sign of infection. See the doctor and discuss treatment options. Treating it effectively can reduce the chance of it leaving a scar. |
