Each one of us has different skin types. So here are some skin care basics according to skin types. 1. Sensitive Skin. Having this kind of skin may be a challenge simply because sensitive skin can react even to the mildest ingredients. When you have sensitive skin, your skin care routine should be planned carefully. Most individuals with sensitive skin can react to ingredients like alcohol, powder, oil and acidic skin products. Due to this, a skin care routine for women with sensitive skin should include using products containing very few artificial ingredients or preservatives because these ingredients can cause some reaction. She should use instead skin care products made from organic ingredients. Toners that contain alcohol and products that contain retinoids should be avoided. Women with sensitive skin should put on less make-up as much as possible to reduce the use of make-up removers too. If make-up is necessary, it should be hypoallergenic and easy to remove. Skin should be washed with an alcohol free, soap-free moisturizing cleanser once or twice a day. 2. Dry Skin. Dry skin is a result of the sebaceous gland failing to produce the right amount of sebum in order to keep the skin moisturized. When this happens, dry skin can be itchy and if it gets really, really dry the skin can crack. Skin care routine for women with dry skin should revolve around one focus and that is to keep the skin moisturized. To prevent skin from drying up, a soap-free moisturizing cleanser should be used. Toners, soaps and detergents should be avoided. Moisturizers should be applied while the skin is still damp in order to seal the moisture. If the skin is still dry after this, then a long lasting moisturizer has to be used. Lastly, drinking plenty of water can also help. 3. Combined Skin Type. A woman with this type of skin can have oily areas as well as dry areas. Her face may be oily while her arms and legs can be dry. To care for this skin type each area should be treated differently. You will have to care for the oily areas the same way you care for oily skin like using oil free moisturizers or using no moisturizers at all. For areas that are dry, you can care for it the same way you care for dry skin like moisturizing it regularly and avoiding using alcohol containing toners and skin care products. 4. Oily Skin Type. With oily skin, the sebaceous gland is producing too much sebum which is the exact opposite of dry skin. Ideally, if one has an oily skin, she doesn't have to moisturize as regularly as those with women who have dry skin. However, if the situation calls for it, women with oily skin should use oil free moisturizers only. It is also ideal for women with oily skin to use a cleanser that contains a particular amount of salicylic acid in order to reduce the amount of oil being produced. |
