Seven Ways To Prevent Wrinkles

Wrinkles may be inevitable but here are some ways to delay its appearance.

1. When using lotions or creams for the face, make sure that these contain AHAs. AHAs are otherwise known as alpha hydroxy acids that are a derivative of Vitamin A coming from fruits and milk. The AHAs work by removing the dead skin cells on your face clearing it and making it look smooth.

AHAs encourage collagen growth. As we age, collagen tends to degenerate which results to saggy and wrinkly skin. Using products with AHA will keep the collagen from degenerating encouraging it to grow and fill up those wrinkles. AHAs also combat free radicals which can harm the body especially the skin.

2. Another way to keep skin looking smooth and fresh is by exfoliating. When you exfoliate, you remove the dead skin cells from the facial skin leaving only fresh skin cells.

Exfoliation also encourages the growth of new cells. Lastly, exfoliated skin is able to absorb more moisture thus it tends to be more hydrated making it look plump and not dry.

3. Avoid overexposure to the sun. Remember that the sun emits harmful rays like UVA and UVB rays. These ultraviolet rays can cause havoc on your skin and it can also cause wrinkles to prematurely appear on your face.

To protect your face and the rest of your body, use a sunblock with SPF of 30 or more. Keep in mind that the higher the sun protection factor, the more protection you get.

4. Avoid or get rid of bad habits like drinking and smoking. Alcohol reduces the amount of water inside our body so if you take it in excessive amounts the more water is lost. Remember that to keep your skin from sagging and forming wrinkles, it has to stay supple and hydrated. When you drink alcoholic beverages, you reduce the water content in your body so your skin tends to get drier and will surely start to sag especially if you are already an alcoholic.

The nicotine in cigarettes will reduce the body's capacity to produce collagen and as you age your body will even have a harder time to produce collagen. Without collagen, your skin will also sag and fine lines will begin to appear. To counter this, avoid or keep your drinking and smoking sessions at a minimum.

5. Eat a healthy diet. Our foods contain a lot of essential vitamins and minerals that can help maintain the health of our skin. As long as we keep our skin healthy, we can delay the appearance of some wrinkles.

6. Hydration. In addition to moisturizers, you can also keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Ditch those sodas because these can do nothing to keep yourself hydrated. Instead, drink water.

7. Remember how some people tell us to stop frowning because this can cause wrinkles? Well then they are right. When you frown, you use about a hundred or two of your facial muscles. Excessive use of these facial muscles can result to creases and eventually wrinkles on your face. Rather than frowning, smile as often as possible because when you smile you only use about 15 to 20 facial muscles.
