There is no denying that the environment today is rather harsh to our skin. If you have noticed when you stay out in the sun for too long, you don't only get sunburn your skin also tends to get really dry. We all know that dry skin can be unsightly and it can also be itchy. Dry skin is the last thing you want to have. However, there are individuals who are simply born with dry skin and there's nothing they can do except to apply moisturizers. Yes, moisturizers do have some benefits for the skin. Do not wait to have really dry skin before you start using some moisturizers or moisturizing lotions. When using moisturizers, remember these tips. 1. Just because one brand of moisturizing lotion worked for your friend doesn't guarantee that it will work for you too. The key to maximizing the effect is finding the right type of moisturizing lotion that will fit your skin type. Remember that there are several skin types and each skin type requires a particular degree of moisturizing. It is best that you get to know your skin so that you will be able to use the right moisturizing lotion for you. Be open to the fact that you might have to try several brands before you finally find the right one. 2. Apply moisturizers right after you shower. It has been said that your pores tend to open up after you have had a warm shower making this the reason why this is the best time to apply it. Before applying, pat your skin dry then apply the moisturizer on your legs, arms and hands. The open pores will absorb more moisture keeping your skin from getting too dry during the day. 3. It is hard to base a product's effectiveness on the cost. In other words, not all expensive moisturizers are effective. There are times when cheaper products tend to be more effective than those sold at a very high price. 4. When applying moisturizers, place it on the palms first then put both palms together and spread it. Then, starting with the legs, apply the moisturizer from the thigh down using upward circular motions to blend it. Do the same process with the other thigh. When you get to the hands, start from the upper arm down to the forearm. Still using upward circular motions, blend the moisturizer. The same process should be done with the other arm. 5. Body moisturizers should not be applied on the face because these moisturizers have a different composition as those of facial moisturizers. Body moisturizers tend to be heavier as compared to facial moisturizers. 6. Reapply moisturizers on the hands as often as possible. Often times we tend to forget to moisturize our hands thinking that these parts don't get dry. But you have to remember that your hands are the ones exposed to a lot of elements which cause them to become really dry. So during the day, reapply moisturizer to your hands to keep them moist and to prevent them from cracking. |
